All goes on in the eyes of Rwanda Media Commission (RMC), the agency mooted in 2013 to promoted media self-regulation and protect journalists.
It has been turned into the latter’s censor in Chief with regime sympathisers at its helm, leaving journalists at the mercy of all forms of threats, trolling, persecution and control by multiple Sate agencies with security services and and the Office of the Government Spokesperson (OGS) at the top.
The author of this article practised here as an independent journalist for over a decade with reputable local and regional broadcast stations and publications. Increasingly it was like playing with fire.
