Angola is officially the latest country you can travel to visa free on the Rwandan passport.
The two countries’ officials Friday signed a range of cooperation agreements including one that removes visa requirements for Rwandan diplomatic service and ordinary passport holders visiting Angola.
This effectively brings the number of countries Rwandans can travel to without a visa to 27.
But, there is currently a total of 61 visa-free access destinations for Rwandan passport holders when you consider both the number of the visa-free countries and that of those requiring visa on arrival.
According to the 2022 Henley Passport Index report, a global mobility ranking, 27 countries allow Rwanda passport holders to enter without a visa, while 34 require them to enter by either obtaining a visa on arrival or an electronic travel authorization.
Countries that feature on the visa-free list include Indonesia, Qatar, Philippines, Singapore, Ecuador, Haiti in addition to tens others on the African continent, among others.

Iran, Jordan, Cambodia, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka feature on the visa-on-arrival list, alongside African countries such as Nigeria, Ethiopia, Namibia, Ghana, Somalia, and others.
Visa required
However, there are 61 destinations where Rwanda passport holders need a physical visa to enter. They include the entire European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Russia, Turkey, China, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Israel equally feature on the visa required access destinations.
The list includes 25 African countries namely South Africa, Egypt, Tunisia, Cameroon, Botswana, Morocco, Sudan, Libya and Djibouti.
Fees waiver
Meanwhile, Rwanda’s visa regime grants nationals of all countries 30-day visa on arrival since January 1, 2018.
Citizens of Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Haiti, Mauritius, Philippines, and Senegal are granted 90 days valid visa on arrival.
Others include Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Sao Tome and Principe, Singapore and the state Qatar, while citizens of EAC can stay for six months.
The country also allowed all Africans, citizens of Commonwealth nations and the Organization Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) to enter the country without having to pay visa fees since March 2020.
